31 Days of Pinterest Projects - Day 12 - Margaret's Sewing Room Progress

Since our shopping trip Monday afternoon, Margaret & her husband, Rod, have been working away on the sewing room and she stopped by my house today with some photos to share on the blog! Can't beat that :) I just love when people get as excited about organizing their spaces as I do!

When you enter the room from the hall, as I mentioned in this post, there is a large blank wall to the right. We decided this would be the perfect spot for some clipboards to hold photos and materials for Margaret's current sewing projects. And Margaret is also working on DIY-ing a calendar for this space. I can not wait to share it with you!

Here are the clipboards already in place! We got these beauties at Staples for only $2 each. We had considered buying plain clipboards and decorating them ourselves, but these were so cute already and they were on sale so they were actually cheaper than the plain ones! Margaret hung them up with 3M Command Strips so she didn't even have to put any nails in the walls.

And you know how I mentioned here that we bought 3 rolls of cork to make a 4 ft x 6 ft inspiration board? We found the rolls at Lowe's for just $9.99 each which was a bargain compared to $16.99 each at Staples. We didn't think that was too bad for a large inspiration board. But then Margaret showed the rolls of cork to Rod Monday night and they looked at a few tutorials online and determined they'd have to mount the rolls on a sheet of plywood and frame it to avoid damaging their walls with glue or nails and tacks, etc. So, Rod wasn't really liking the idea. . .and it sounded like it would snowball into something well over $30 and take a ton of time.

So then Tuesday, Margaret found this GIANT 4 ft x 8 ft bulletin board inside an aluminum (I think) frame for just $25 at the local Habitat ReStore. Now they could easily hang it up and be DONE with this part of the makeover for less cash than what the 3 rolls of cork cost!

Margaret is beyond thrilled and is already pinning up all kinds of inspirational photos. :)

I may just have to stop in the ReStore and get one myself. I'm loving the way this is turning out!

Those clipboards at Staples are a great find! That they're on sale is the only way they could get better.

Also, I have corkboard envy, now. What a good idea - I'll have to keep an eye out for one for my sewing room. Thank you for sharing!
